International Day of Women and Girls in Science

To celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2019, EPA Victoria will bring together some of Victoria's leading female scientists for a livestreamed event on Monday 11 February. Students, teachers and interested Victorians can register for the livestream through Eventbrite

Hosted by Victoria's Chief Environmental Scientist, Dr Andrea Hinwood, the event will feature a keynote address by Dr Marguerite Evans-Galea, co-founder and CEO of Women in STEMM Australia.

Following the keynote address will be an interactive panel facilitated by Dr Bridie O'Donnell – Head of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation. Panellists include Dr Amanda Caples – Victoria’s Lead Scientist, Dr Gillian Sparkes – the Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability Victoria, Dr Andrea Hinwood – Victoria's Chief Environmental Scientist and Dr Angie Bone – Victoria’s Deputy Chief Health Officer. The online audience will be able to submit questions via Twitter, which the panellists will aim to answer on the day.

The event will be held at the Royal Society of Victoria, and still has limited places available for Year 9 and 10 students who'd like to attend in person. Email if your school is interested in participating.
